Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in south valley

A woman died after she was hit by a car early Sunday in the southern Las Vegas Valley.
Just after 4:40 a.m., a 1997 Acura Integra was going south on Las Vegas Boulevard South, approaching a green light at Silverado Ranch Boulevard, according to a Metropolitan Police Department news release.
An 81-year-old pedestrian at the intersection tried to cross Las Vegas Boulevard when the Acura hit her, according to police. The woman died at the scene, police said.
The driver, identified as 23-year-old Mariah Bragg, showed signs of impairment and was arrested, according to police. She faces felony counts of DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm and reckless driving resulting in death or substantial bodily harm, along with a misdemeanor charge of having an open container in a vehicle, court records show.
Police were still investigating the scene shortly after 9 a.m.
