Pedestrian dies after hit by vehicle in southeast Las Vegas

Updated October 29, 2021 - 6:25 am

A pedestrian died Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle in southeast Las Vegas, police said.

Officers were called at 5:52 p.m. to the intersection of East Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway after a report of an injury crash, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Joshua Younger.

Investigators believe the pedestrian was running through the street when they were struck by a 2008 Dodge Caravan traveling south on Boulder, police said in a press release. The pedestrian, who’s identity was not immediately known, later died at a hospital.

“For an unknown reason, (the) pedestrian was in the roadway and not in a marked or unmarked crosswalk,” police said.

A 57-year-old Las Vegas man was driving the Dodge. He remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment.

Boulder Highway was closed from East Harmon Avenue to Tropicana while officers investigated.
