A pedestrian died in a crash on Interstate 15 in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

The crash happened at 10:45 p.m. in northbound off-ramp of I-15 at Cheyenne Avenue.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said the pedestrian, 31-year-old Araeli Jasmin Morales, of Salida, California, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a Ford Pickup.

According to a preliminary investigation, Morales entered the path of the Ford and was struck by the Ford’s right front.

The Ford continued north on the off-ramp after the collision and then returned back to the scene of the crash, Highway Patrol said. The driver then remained at the scene and worked with investigative officers.

Highway Patrol Southern Command said there have been 64 fatal crashes resulting in 72 fatalities this year in Southern Nevada.
