Updated August 2, 2022 - 4:40 pm

A pedestrian was fatally struck Friday night in western Las Vegas.

A vehicle hit the pedestrian in the 3000 block of Lake East Drive, near South Durango Drive and Edna Avenue around 10:20 p.m. The pedestrian died at a local hospital, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Aaron Lee.

He said traffic was shut down in both directions on Durango at Starboard.

The Clark County coroner’s office identifed the pedestrian as Susan Falencik, 63. She died of blunt force injuries.

Police later said in a press release that the unidentified female pedestrian was crossing Durango outside of any marked crosswalk when she was struck by a 2015 Mazda 3 driven by a 43-year-old Las Vegas man. The driver remained at the scene but showed signs of impairment and was arrested, police said.
