Pedestrian killed crossing Jones near Tropicana

A 64-year-old pedestrian died Saturday morning after she was struck by a pickup as she crossed Jones Boulevard near Tropicana Avenue, Las Vegas police said.

The woman, who's name was not released by authorities, was struck about 9 a.m. by a 1993 Ford F-150 driven by Julian Jaime-Najar, 54, of Las Vegas. The woman was taken to University Medical Center where she died.

The pickup was travelling southbound on Jones in the center lane when the woman entered the lane and was struck, police said. Investigators said the woman was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk.

Jaime-Najar was not charged. The accident remains under investigation.
