Updated October 2, 2018 - 10:40 am

A 48-year-old Las Vegas man died Monday evening in a crash in the central valley.

At 6:30 p.m., a 2007 Nissan Altima hit Daniel Eduardo Rios as he was crossing West Tropicana Avenue west of Edmond Street, near South Decatur Boulevard. Las Vegas police said that Rios was not in a marked crosswalk.

Rios died at University Medical Center. His cause and manner of death were pending with the Clark County coroner’s office Tuesday morning.

The 21-year-old Nissan driver remained at the scene and is not suspected of impairment, police said.

Rios’ death was the 105th traffic fatality investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department this year.
