Police say medical episode triggered fatal crash on Boulder Highway

Police believe the man who died in a single-vehicle accident Tuesday morning had a medical episode before striking a pole on Boulder Highway.

The man was driving a dark green Chevrolet Suburban south on Boulder Highway at about 10 a.m. when he veered into northbound lanes of traffic near the intersection of Missouri Avenue, struck a curb and then a pole.  Las Vegas police spokesman Marcus Martin said it appears a medical issue triggered the crash.

The man was taken to the Rose de Lima campus of St. Rose Dominican Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead. There were also three dogs in the Suburban, but Marcus Martin did not know whether they were injured.

The dogs were taken by Clark County Animal Control, he said.
