Rain to stay away, hot weather to remain in Las Vegas Valley
After monitoring what seemed like a chance of monsoon weather this week, the National Weather Service now says the storm pattern has shifted away from the Las Vegas Valley.
“Right now, the best threat for thunderstorms will remain in Arizona,” said meteorologist Barry Pierce, noting this year’s delayed monsoon season. “Maybe eventually we’ll get a little burst of moisture but for now, next week, we may dry out again.”
In the meantime, forecast highs will be above the normal 104-degree high for this time of year. Wednesday topped out at 106 and is expected to be followed by highs of 108 on Thursday, 107 on Friday, 109 on Saturday, and 107 on Sunday and Monday.
Overnight lows should be in the low 80s, according to Pierce.
If Thursday reaches 108, it will be the hottest day of the year so far, beating the 107-degree high the valley saw on June 12, the weather service said.
The valley also will see a mix of mostly clear to partly cloudy skies through the weekend. There are no rain chances for the valley through Monday, the weather service said.
