Red Rock hiker rescued after fall

A hiker was injured after falling 15 feet at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Friday afternoon, Las Vegas police said.

The 47-year-old man was hiking in a remote area when he fell and injured a leg.

Metro’s Search and Rescue unit conducted an air and ground search to locate the man. The fallen hiker was found in a rugged terrain area in Calico Basin.

Rescue personnel treated him on-site and he was flown to an emergency landing zone, where he could be transported to a local hospital.

This is the 40th mission completed by Metro’s Search and Rescue this year.
