Road rage may have sparked traffic-snarling incident on Las Vegas Strip
May 21, 2016 - 2:56 pm
Road rage led a man to get out of his car and lay down on Las Vegas Boulevard South, police said.
Traffic was backed up at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road around 4 p.m. Friday because of the driver lying in the street, Metro spokesman Michael Rodriguez said.
A taxi driver was traveling south on Las Vegas Boulevard when he was cut off by a man driving a Nissan, Metro Lt. Timothy Hatchet, said. The taxi driver exited the taxi and confronted the driver stopped at a red light.
The two then got into a fight. The Nissan driver exited his vehicle and caused unspecified damage to the taxi. They continued to fight and the Nissan driver fell to the ground and was later transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center for unspecified reasons. It was unclear whether he was injured, Hatchet said.
Police received several calls that a man was lying in the middle of the street and refusing to get up, Rodriguez said. The Nissan driver was uncooperative with officers at the hospital. The taxi driver did not want to press charges. A report was taken, and the state taxicab authority responded to the scene.
