Southern Nevada Trails Day, free event, slated for Oct. 6
September 26, 2012 - 1:01 am
The Southern Nevada Trails Day Celebration will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 6 at the new Cornerstone Park, 1600 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson.
Admission to the event, which is presented by the Henderson Parks and Recreation Department, is free for all ages.
The annual event, formerly known as the National Trails Day Celebration, brings together trail and outdoor enthusiasts from Southern Nevada to learn about local and regional trails.
This year, it also marks the official opening of the 100-acre Cornerstone Park. Members of the Henderson City Council will take part in a ceremonial ribbon cutting to open the park and kick off the celebration.
The celebration also will include informational exhibits and presenters, booths, activities for all ages, basic bike maintenance checks, and giveaways.
Concessions will be available on site from Lola D's Kitchen.
Additional and overflow parking will be available at Greenspun Middle School, 140 N. Valle Verde Drive, with free shuttle service provided to and from Cornerstone Park.
