Two Timet workers hospitalized after electrical explosion

Two workers remained hospitalized at the University Medical Center's Burn Care Center on Thursday after an electrical explosion at the Titanium Metals Corp. plant Wednesday.

Hospital officials declined to release conditions, citing confidentiality laws.

The Henderson Fire Department responded to the incident on West Lake Mead Parkway near Boulder Highway about 8:30 a.m., Deputy Chief Jeff Lytle said. The cause remained undetermined and was still under investigation, he said.

There was no structural damage to the building, Lytle said. The explosion did not shut down the rest of operations at the titanium manufacturing plant.

Timet forwarded calls seeking comment to its corporation in Texas, which did not return messages.
