U.S. 95 reopens at Spaghetti Bowl after oil spill

Traffic is moving again through a downtown Las Vegas interchange following an unexpected closure.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said traffic on the interchange between southbound Interstate 15 and southbound U.S. 95 resumed around 8:45 p.m., more than an hour after the ramp was closed due to an oil spill.

Trooper Jeremie Elliott said the spill came from a truck that lost an oil pan drain plug, resulting in about 20 gallons of oil on the roadway.

Authorities diverted traffic off the highway and around the spill while waiting for a crew to arrive and clean it.

Elliott said there were five accidents in the backup and three people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
