Volunteers wanted to help find housing for homeless

Volunteers are needed for Clark County's homeless survey to identify and find permanent housing for as many as 50 chronically homeless veterans during the next two months.

The survey is part of the 100,000 Homes Campaign, a national effort by more than 130 communities to house 100,000 of the most vulnerable homeless.

During the past 14 months, the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition has found housing for 140 chronically homeless people.

Volunteers must attend one training session from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the commission chambers at the county government center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.

The first survey will be conducted from 3:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. Monday. Volunteers will meet at Catholic Charities, 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. N.

The second survey will be from 3:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday. Volunteers will meet at HELP of Southern Nevada, 1660 E. Flamingo Road.
