Wind brings dust advisory for Las Vegas Valley

The Clark County Department of Air Quality has issued a dust advisory for Friday afternoon and evening.

While unhealthy dust levels weren’t occurring Friday morning, windy conditions were bringing the possibility of blowing dust in the valley.

Construction site operators were advised to take precautions in preventing blowing dust.

The air quality department also advised residents to drive slowly on unpaved roads, ride off-road vehicles in approved areas outside of urban Las Vegas, and fence off barren property or cover it with gravel, rock or desert-friendly landscaping to keep dust down.

Air quality officials will continue to monitor conditions and will post an alert on the department’s forecast page at http://redrock.clarkcountynv.gov/forecast/ if unhealthy levels occur.
