Woman killed in crash in north valley
A 19-year-old Las Vegas woman was killed Tuesday afternoon in a crash in the northern Las Vegas Valley.
Las Vegas police spokesman Larry Hadfield said the crash occurred at 12:08 p.m. at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard North and North Walnut Road, near Cheyenne Avenue.
A 2004 Toyota Corolla overturned after entering the rock-centered center median, before sliding into the path of a 2018 Kia Soul driven by a 59-year-old Las Vegas man, according to a Metropolitan Police Department press release.
The Toyota was driven by a 22-year-old Las Vegas man, with the 19-year-old woman as a passenger.
The driver of the Kia and passenger of the Toyota were both taken to University Medical Center. The woman later died at the hospital, police said in the release.
Both drivers suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Toyota stayed at the scene and did not show signs of impairment. The collision remained under investigation, according to the release.
The Regional Transportation Commission said at 7:10 p.m. that Las Vegas Boulevard North reopened at Walnut Road in both directions.
