Woman passenger dies as car crashes into work truck on I-15

A woman was killed Tuesday morning after a high-speed highway crash.

Nevada Highway Patrol said the woman was a passenger in a black BMW traveling south on Interstate 15 near Spring Mountain Road about 1 a.m.

Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle and swerved into the center median, where the vehicle collided with a parked flatbed work truck.

The woman died at the scene.

The male driver of the BMW was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

Although it was an active construction scene, no one was inside the truck and no workers were injured.

The express lanes on southbound I-15 were closed from about 1 a.m. until 6 a.m., police said.

The Clark County coroner's office will release the name of the woman.
