Worker survives 150-foot fall at MGM Grand

A man fell about 150 feet while working on a sign at MGM Grand on Wednesday morning and survived.

Charles Schueler, a Young Electric Sign Co. employee for six years, was renovating the MGM Grand marquee when he fell, YESCO Executive Vice President Paul Young said in a statement.

Landscaping broke his fall, but he suffered serious injuries, Clark County Deputy Fire Chief Jon Klassen said.

Schueler was removing equipment from the sign about 9:40 a.m. when he fell.

He was taken to University Medical Center Trauma in critical condition.

“It’s tragic to have something like this happen,” Young said. “The family really appreciates folks’ support and prayers.”

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident.
