Coroner IDs man struck, killed on I-15 near Jean

The Clark County coroner's office has identified a man struck and killed by a tractor-trailer near Jean on Interstate 15.

His is Justin Prokop, a 23-year-old from Burgettstown, Pa., coroner's office staff said Tuesday.

Prokop was hit about 9:45 a.m. Monday as he crossed from the median onto south lanes of I-15, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

It wasn't immediately clear what Prokop, who died at the scene, was doing on the highway.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, who had applied heavy braking, cooperated with troopers, NHP said.
