Nevada prisoner escapes for a few minutes, is caught

An inmate briefly escaped from a northern Nevada corrections facility Tuesday evening, corrections department officials say.

Inmate Brian Kakowski, 41 was spotted outside the fence of the minimum-security facility just before 6 p.m.

He was caught by corrections department officers in less than 10 minutes. He had made it less than a mile away, officials said, and was taken to the Northern Nevada Correctional Center after being captured.

Kakowski was serving 13 to 60 months for failing to stop upon the signal of a peace officer.
