Nevada sees 811 new COVID-19 cases, 8 additional deaths

Nevada recorded 811 new cases of COVID-19 and eight additional deaths, according to data posted Sunday.

The new figures posted on the Department of Health and Human Services’ nvhealthresponse.nv.gov website increased the case total for the state to 56,230 and hiked the death toll to 957.

There were fewer new cases than the daily average of nearly 962 over the preceding week, with fewer fatalities than the daily average of just over 14 for the period as well.

The state’s infection or positivity rate, considered a better barometer of the trend of the outbreak, jumped to 10.80 percent on Sunday from 10.76 percent on Saturday.

The number of hospitalizations of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients declined by 59 to 976.

Clark County added 727 cases, according to the state website, for a total of 48,466. The eight deaths added Sunday were from Clark County, which has a total of 807.

Washoe County reported an additional 36 cases for a total of 5,792.

Saturday marked the end of the deadliest week in Nevada for COVID-19 after an increase of 29 deaths brought the preceding seven-day total to 117.
