Teen girl killed in Colorado River collision identified; boater arrested

The California teenager killed in a weekend collision on the Colorado River in Bullhead City, Arizona, has been identified as Guadalupe Rodriguez of San Bernardino.

The 13-year-old girl died of spinal fractures, the Mohave County medical examiner said.

Bullhead City police spokeswoman Carina Spotts said Rodriguez and her 8-year-old sister were on a personal watercraft operated by their mother when they were struck by a 20-foot boat near the beach at Davis Camp early Saturday afternoon. The younger girl and mother were transported to hospitals for treatment of fractures and lacerations.

The uninjured boat operator, Kevin Morgan, 42, Long Beach, California, was arrested and charged with operating a watercraft while intoxicated. A manslaughter charge is possible as the investigation continues.
