Veterans home administrator to leave

Mark McBride, administrator of the State Veterans Home in Boulder City, will leave his post Nov. 1 to take a private sector job, Nevada veterans services officials said this week.

Linda Gelinger, a member of the Board of Examiners for Long Term Care Administrators, will serve as interim administrator beginning Nov. 2. She will continue that role until a new administrator is found.

"We have extreme confidence in her commitment to quality and service for the population we serve," Wendy Simons, deputy director of wellness, said in a news release Monday from the Nevada Department of Veterans Services.

The department runs the home for 180 veteran residents. The administrator's responsibilities include oversight of the residents and ensuring the facility meets regulatory requirements and passes inspections in addition to supervising a staff and working with community partners and volunteers.
