North Las Vegas Fire Department gets grant for imaging cameras
September 13, 2017 - 3:55 pm
The North Las Vegas Fire Department received a $70,410 federal grant to purchase 10 thermal imaging cameras that will help firefighters detect “hot spots” that could potentially go unnoticed when battling a blaze.
The cameras will replace an outdated set that was purchased in 2008, North Las Vegas Fire Capt. Cedric Williams said. About 90 percent of the camera costs will be covered by the grant, which was awarded by the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency.
