TangTangTang in Las Vegas has Korean soup, shareable dishes

One of the latest Korean restaurants to hit Spring Mountain Road is TangTangTang. Instead of barbecue or fusion cuisine, the restaurant specializes in tang, a type of Korean soup with a thin broth and traditionally served with side dishes.

Selections include ox bone and dumpling soups, barbecue dishes, hot pots, chilled noodle dishes and beef and pork ribs.

The kimchi dumpling soup ($11) comes with sides of japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), cabbage kimchi and daikon radish kimchi.

The ox bone soup ($10-$14) comes with the same sides and a large serving of rice. Protein options (beef brisket, ox knee and ox tail) can be combined for a larger serving ($13 for two proteins, $14 for three).

The restaurant is tucked in a small, 50-seat space at the Commerce Corner retail center near Spring Mountain and Jones Boulevard. Before TangTangTang, the space was home to the modern Japanese restaurant Kushiyaki Inyo, which opened in summer 2016. Before that, it was home to Inyo Asian Variety Restaurant, which opened in early 2015.

The restaurant has dishes that can be shared by up to three people, such as the braised spicy pork ribs ($33) and beef ribs ($40). Extra sides of ramen, sliced rice cake and udon can be ordered for $2 each.

“Tang” is derived from Chinese characters, according to the Michelin Guide, and is the formal term for guk, the native Korean word for soup.
