15-year-old boy dies in accident; driver arrested

A 15-year-old boy died after the vehicle he was passenger in collided with a light pole Saturday night near Rainbow and Lake Mead boulevards, according to Las Vegas police.
Investigators said Arturo Castillo, 23, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer northbound on Rainbow Boulevard about 8 p.m. Castillo lost control of the SUV and slid toward the curb. He struck a light pole, knocking it over, resulting in major damage.
The 15-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger, Oscar Ceballos, 18, received minor injuries.
Castillo was suspected of driving under the influence and was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for a felony DUI, according to police.
This is the 25th traffic-related fatality in the police’s jurisdiction this year. The accident remains under investigation.
