Blue Diamond Road reopens after fatal crash

Blue Diamond Road has reopened after the Nevada Highway Patrol investigated a fatal crash in the Spring Mountain area, according to the Regional Transportation Commission.

The crash happened just after 10 a.m. when the driver of a white Chevrolet drifted out of his lane and crashed into another vehicle head-on, trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.

The Chevy’s driver, a 77-year-old man, died at the scene. The woman driving the other car was flown to University Medical Center with serious but nonlife-threatening injuries, according to the Highway Patrol. A woman traveling with her was also taken to UMC with nonlife-threatening injuries via ground transport.
