Five critical in six-car wreck

A multi-vehicle wreck has shut down traffic in both directions on Desert Inn Road between Backstage Boulevard and Sandhill Road.
The accident, which happened about 2:20 p.m., involved at least six vehicles, and at least six people were transported to local hospitals, according to Las Vegas police spokesman Jose Hernandez.
Some of the injured people were in critical condition. A fatality investigative team had been sent out to the scene as of 5 p.m., Hernandez said.
Investigators will look at if speed or alcohol were factors in this accident.
