A 22-year-old Los Angeles man was struck and killed by a vehicle early Wednesday in the south Las Vegas Valley.
Las Vegas police Lt. Damon Young said the fatality occurred after an argument between two people at 2:40 a.m. near Las Vegas Boulevard South and Windmill Lane.
“The victim was visiting from out of state with his friend,” Young said in a text message. “The two got into an argument. During the argument, the victim decided to run into the street. While in the roadway he was struck by a vehicle.”
The victim was hit by a 2017 Lexus headed north on Las Vegas Boulevard. The vehicle was driven by a 48-year-old Las Vegas woman.
Detectives were trying to determine if the victim engaged in “an intentional act” by purposely entering the path of the vehicle, police said in a news release.
Traffic was restricted in both directions on Las Vegas Boulevard from Shelbourne to Wigwam avenues through much of the morning.
The name of the man who was killed will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office after relatives have been notified.
