National Weather Service issues flood advisory for northwest valley

Expect Monday’s weather conditions to be similar to Sunday’s: clouds, temperatures below average and maybe even some rain, the National Weather Service said.

Storms that passed through the Las Vegas Valley on Sunday prompted the weather service to issue a flood advisory in the afternoon for the northwest, which expired at about 4:30 p.m. Only minor flooding was reported in the streets, meteorologist Chris Stachelski said.

The remaining storms surrounding Las Vegas were near the California border, Stachelski said. There’s a slight chance that they will move toward the valley, but if they do, it won’t be until late night Sunday.

Sunday’s high was 101 degrees and it’s not expected to be much hotter on Monday, Stachelski said. Normal highs for this time of year are about 104 degrees. It should stay a couple of degrees below average the rest of the week.

There is a 20 percent chance for rain for the valley and 40 percent chance for the Spring Mountains on Monday. Tuesday will likely be dry, Stachelski said.

Overnight temperatures Monday should dip into the 85-degree range, Stachelski said.
