The heat is on — again

The 105-degree weather the Las Vegas Valley knows well, but may not exactly love is making a comeback this week.
From Monday through Thursday, high temperatures will be around the 105- to 107- degree range, the National Weather Service said.
The drying period started Monday when the valley saw a high of 106 following a short stint of cloudy skies over the weekend, the weather service said.
Things could be worse though — the record high for Aug. 3 was 116 degrees in 1979, meteorologist John Salmen said. And we won't be anywhere near that number, he reassures.
It's still too early to tell, but some moisture may possibly return to the valley. It would be brief, according to Salmen, such as a quick storm on Thursday night or on Friday.
If it happens, it will help set up cooler temperatures for the end of the week close to 100 degrees, Salmen said.
