Windy Wednesday in Las Vegas Valley — VIDEO

Updated March 13, 2019 - 9:41 pm

Wednesday’s windy weather will give way to a warmer weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory in Las Vegas expired at 4 p.m. after a cold front brought winds and cooler than normal temperatures, with Wednesday only reaching a high of 58.

The weather service measure the highest wind gust at the airport at about 48 mph, with the highest sustained wind at 36 mph during the storm, which started Tuesday night, meteorologist Trevor Boucher said.

Wind gusts on Wednesday night could reach 20 to 25 mph, while overnight temperatures drop to about 40 degrees, he said.

“That will gradually decrease over the course of the night,” Boucher said of the winds.

Thursday will still be mildly breezy with gusts at 10 to 15 mph, he said. Thursday’s high will be about 60.

“It looks like a nice pattern change,” meteorologist Ashley Wolf said. “No rain is expected. We’ll see more sun than clouds through the end of the week and we will have a slow warming trend the second half of the week.”

Friday’s forecast calls for a high of 63, followed by 69 on Saturday and 72 on Sunday. No rain is in the forecast for the next week, the weather service said.

“Saturday will be the sunnier of the two days,” Wolf said.
