BOYS BOWLING: Chaparral’s Cerell Cardines leads field in state qualifiers

Chaparral’s Cerell Cardines bowled a 770 series Wednesday at Gold Coast Bowling Center to lead the field of Class 3A state boys bowling qualifiers.

Cardines had a high game of 279, and led the six qualifiers for Friday’s finals.

Cardines’ teammate, Dominic Olivares, was second with a 638. Del Sol’s Skylur Pinkus (600), Cheyenne’s Brandon Duffy (581), Mojave’s Skyler McGowan (573) and Tech’s Kyle Rendon (565) rounded out the six qualifiers.

Marco Ramirez-Buckles of Arbor View rolled a 676 series, including a 258 game, to lead the Class 4A qualifiers

Caleb Andrews of Clark was second at 666. Desert Oasis’ Desmond Kuresa was third with a 662, followed by Green Valley’s Joe Gerencser (661), Las Vegas’ Kyle Wilson (603) and Cimarron-Memorial’s Cameron Stafford (626).

Wednesday’s qualifying scores will not carry over into Friday’s finals, which are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Gold Coast.

The girls individual qualifiers will be Thursday at Gold Coast.
