Foothill’s boys bowling team rolled its best series of the Sunrise Region tournament at the right time Thursday.
The Falcons had a series total of 2,230 pins to edge Eldorado by 20 total pins and collect a 7-2 win over the Sundevils in the Sunrise Region final at The Orleans Bowling Center.
Foothill, which was the Southeast League’s top seed in the tournament, had series totals of 1,955 in the quarterfinals and 2,162 in the semifinals.
The Falcons advance to face Spring Valley in the state championship match at 2:30 p.m. Friday at The Orleans.
Spring Valley also had little margin for error, taking down Clark, 7-2 in the Sunset Region final.
The Grizzlies had a series total of 2,430 to Clark’s 2,394.
Neither Spring Valley nor Foothill has won a state title in bowling, though the Grizzlies could get two crowns Friday.
Spring Valley’s girls cruised to a 9-0 win over Sierra Vista in the Sunset Region final. They’ll meet Basic in Friday’s state title match.
The Wolves, who last won the state championship in 2011, defeated Coronado, 7-2 in the Sunrise Region final.
