Silverado boys, Coronado girls set to defend state bowling titles

Silverado’s boys and Coronado’s girls open defense of their state titles when the state bowling championships begin Thursday. The entire tournament takes place at The Orleans Bowling Center.
Silverado, which defeated Durango in last year’s final, is the top seed from the Southeast League in the Sunrise Region boys tournament.
Coronado’s girls, winners over Clark in last year’s title match, are the Southeast’s top seed in the Sunrise tournament.
The boys tournament begins Thursday with regional quarterfinal action at 2:30 p.m.
In the Sunrise Region, Silverado (111-15) faces Chaparral (70-56); Green Valley (83-43) takes on Eldorado (79-47); Las Vegas (77-49) meets Coronado (102-24); and Northeast top seed Rancho (112-14) bowls against Foothill (78-48).
In the Sunset Region, Northwest No. 1 seed Shadow Ridge (117-27) battles Spring Valley (79-47); Palo Verde (97-47) faces Clark (92-34); Cimarron-Memorial (114-30) takes on Bonanza (85-41); and Southwest top seed Bishop Gorman (102-24) faces Arbor View (96-48).
The regional semifinals are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The regional finals will be held at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 18, with those winners advancing to the championship at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 19.
Girls tournament play begins at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
In the Sunrise Region, Coronado (126-0) takes on Rancho (68-58); Las Vegas (88-38) faces Basic (79-47); Boulder City (79-47) meets Tech (86-40); and Northeast No. 1 seed Eldorado (122-4) battles Foothill (70-56).
In the Sunset Region, Northwest top seed Palo Verde (140-4) takes on Western (79-47); Arbor View (104-40) meets Durango (92-34); Cimarron-Memorial (110-34) faces Clark (85-41); and Southwest No. 1 seed Bonanza (122-4) battles Legacy (82-62).
The remainder of the girls schedule mirrors the boys schedule with regional semifinals scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, regional finals at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and the championship at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
