BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: DeCaires leads Grizzlies over Mountain Lions

Desmond DeCaires won a 2.5-mile race in 15 minutes, 28 seconds on Wednesday to help Spring Valley’s boys cross country team to a 19-44 win at Sierra Vista.
Sierra Vista’s Riley Beck was second in 16:36.
The Grizzlies’ Kyle Lutes was third in 17:38, just ahead of teammate Jackson Downey (17:50).
Falcons top Sundevils
At Foothill, Eldorado’s Eddie Esquivel won the 2.5-mile race in 13:48.5, but the Falcons took the next four spots to top the Sundevils, 21-39.
Andrew Babakitis was second in 14:26.3 to lead Foothil. Jesse Dalton (14:39.9) was third, followed by Kolten Anderson (14:52.2) and Christopher Ayala (14:55.0).
Holland, Gaels down Bonanza
At Bonanza, Jacob Holland won a 2.5-mile race in 13:43 to help the Bishop Gorman to a 25-36 win over the Bengals.
Bonanza’s Axel Abad was second in 13:55, and teammate Parker Epperson took third in 14:48.
Diamondbacks defeat Cimarron
At Cimarron-Memorial, Desert Oasis’ Frankie Martinez nipped the Spartans’ Nicolas Gonzalez by one second to win a 2.7-mile race and lead the Diamondbacks to a 22-42 victory.
Martinez won the race in 14:21. Gonzalez was one second behind, followed by Desert Oasis’ T.J. Ness-Pavlinsky in 15:04.
Chargers grab top six spots, beat Cheyenne
At Cheyenne, Charles Bennion won a 2.6-mile race in 14:32 as Clark took the top six spots and posted a 15-49 win over the Desert Shields.
Flimon Fre crossed the line second in 14:34 for the Chargers, followed by teammate Shane Cashin (15:03).
Cougars roll past Wolves
At Cinnamon Ridge Park, Sterling Saltz won a 2.4-mile race in 13:17.7 as the Coronado took the top six spots and downed Basic, 15-49.
Xavier Cummins was second in 13:19.2, followed by Zach Kaufman in 13:20.5.
Centennial tops Legacy
At Legacy, George Espino barely beat five of his teammates across the finish line as Centennial took the top eight spots and defeated the Longhorns, 15-50.
Espino won the 3.1-mile race in 17:20.1, followed by Centennial’s Seth Wright (17:20.7), Jackson Carter (17:22), Dajour Braxton (17:23), Dominic Roberts (17:24.0) and Bryan Espino (17:24.6).
Crusaders run past Western
At Faith Lutheran, the Crusaders took four of the top five spots on the way to a 20-39 win over Western.
Chase Wood won the 3.1-mile race in 16:47, and teammate Austin Hunt was second in 17:05. Western’s Carlos Cerda was third in 17:50.
