BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: George helps Liberty top Del Sol

Jonathan George won a close 2.4-mile race in 13 minutes, 55 seconds Tuesday to lead Liberty’s boys cross country team to a 22-33 win over host Del Sol.

Del Sol’s Omar Rubio was second in 13:56, followed by Liberty’s Alex Grant (13:58.3) and Charles Custer (13:58.6).

Tech takes top five spots

At Tech, Martin Ponce won a 3-mile race in 16:28 as the Roadrunners took the top five positions and captured a three-team meet.

Tech had 15 points. Desert Pines was second with 50, followed by Chaparral with 58.

Garrett Meyer finished second in 16:57, and Miguel Garcia was third in 17:29.

Blaine, Ballard lead Mustangs over Trailblazers

At Shadow Ridge, the Mustangs took the top three spots on the way to a 19-42 win over Durango.

Jonathan Blaine won the 2.9-mile race in 17:21, and teammate Joshua Ballard was second in the same time. Shadow Ridge’s Jacob Goldsborough was third in 17:34, one second ahead of Durango’s Marlon Medina.

Gators roll past Pioneers

At Legacy West Park, Green Valley finished in a tight pack and took the top 13 spots to roll past Canyon Springs, which didn’t field a full team.

Edgar Narciso won the 3.1-mile race in 19:55.1. Lenny Rubi was second in 19:56.2, and the next six Green Valley runners came across the line within seven-tenths of a second of Rubi.
