BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: George paces Patriots to win over Foothill

Jonathan George won a 2.5-mile race in 14 minutes, 17.2 seconds on Wednesday to help Liberty’s boys cross country team to a 25-30 win over Foothill.

The Patriots’ Charles Custer was second in 14:18.9, followed by teammate Alex Grant in 14:26.4.

The Falcons’ Kolten Anderson placed fourth in 14:48.3, and teammate Andrew Babakitis was fifth in 15:08.1.

Cimarron captures three-team meet

At The Meadows, Nicolas Gonzalez won a 2.7-mile race in 15:32 to lead Cimarron-Memorial to a win in a three-team meet.

The Spartans finished with 27 points. Bonanza was second with 34 points, followed by The Meadows with 72.

Alex Abad of Bonanza took second with a time of 16:35. Cimarron’s James Hurtt (16:38) and teammate Joel Castillo (17:11) finished third and fourth, respectively, while Bonanza’s Parker Epperson was fifth in 17:35.

Alex Bice was the top runner for The Meadows, finishing in eighth place in 18:29.

Basic tops Del Sol

At Del Sol, Samuel Stewart won a 2.4-mile race in 14:05 and helped Basic to a 19-44 win over the Dragons.

Basic took seven of the top eight spots with Binyam Bayu placing third in 14:56, Kendrick Peterson taking fourth in 15:16 and Daniel Peveler finishing fifth in 15:18.

Del Sol’s Logan Messick was second in 14:11.

Green Valley rolls past Rancho

At Legacy West Park, Derrick Sumner won a 3.1-mile race in 19:10 as Green Valley took the top seven spots en route to a 15-50 win over Rancho.

Tyler Zurcher was second and Edgar Narciso third, both in 19:13, and teammate Nicholas Lamb was fourth in 19:14.

Crusaders roll to win

At Faith Lutheran, the Crusaders took the top five spots, finishing with 15 points to beat Cheyenne, which didn’t have a complete team.

Chase Wood won the 3.1-mile race in 17:24. Teammates Austin Hunt and Paul Stephens each finished in 18:55 to round out the top three for Faith Lutheran.
