BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Rogers, Gators run past Skyhawks

Austin Rogers won a 2.37-mile race in 13 minutes, 8 seconds on Tuesday as Green Valley’s boys cross country team took the top five spots in a 15-43 win at Silverado.

The Gators’ Lenny Rubi was second in 13:29, followed by Robert Lovelady in 13:36.

Panthers outduel Mustangs

At Shadow Ridge, Noah Landers won a 2.95-mile race in 15:55, and Palo Verde had three of the top four finishers in a 24-35 win over the Mustangs.

Pedro Rios finished third for the Panthers in 16:07, and teammate Andrew Goldsmith (16:24) crossed the line in fourth place.

Shadow Ridge’s David Peters was second in 16:02, and Jonathon Blaine took fifth in 16:54 for the Mustangs.

Bulldogs coast in three-team meet

At The Meadows, George Espino won the 2.7-mile race in 14:27 to help Centennial win a three-team meet.

The Bulldogs swept the top five places to finish with 15 points. The Meadows was second (50 points), and Cimarron-Memorial did not field a complete team.

Dajour Braxton took second for the Bulldogs in 14:38, followed by Seth Wright (14:50), Jackson Carter (15:03) and Brian Espino (15:26).

Nicholas Gonzalez (15:27) finished sixth for Cimarron.

Diamondbacks roll in tri-meet

At Desert Oasis, the Diamondbacks swept the top four spots to defeat Bonanza 17-44 in a three-team meet. Adelson School did not field a full team.

Desert Oasis’ Frankie Martinez won a tightly contested 2.5-mile race in 13:56, one second ahead of teammate T.J. Ness-Pavlinsky. Sam Jimenez was third in 14:13 for the Diamondbacks, with teammate Nathan McIntosh fourth in 14:41.

Axel Abad was the top finisher for Bonanza, taking fifth in 14:54.

Tech captures three-team meet

At Tech, Martin Ponce won a 3.1-mile race in 18:04 to lead the Roadrunners to victory in a three-team meet.

Tech had 25 points. Boulder City finished with 45 points, followed by Sunrise Mountain with 52.

Boulder City’s Chandler Harkins placed second in 18:17. Tech’s Garrett Meyer was third in 18:28.

Aggies race past Grizzlies

At Floyd Lamb Park, Cole Jones won the 3.1-mile race in 17:27, and Arbor View swept the top five places to beat Spring Valley, 15-48.

Jason Gallo was second for the Aggies in 17:30, with teammates William Teel (17:49), Cory Chatterton (18:07) and Jordan Comish (18:14) rounding out the top five.

Desmond DeCaires was the top finisher for the Grizzlies, taking sixth in 18:40.

Jaguars roll past Pirates

At Desert Pines, the Jaguars took the top two spots and 12 of the top 14 en route to a 21-40 win over Moapa Valley.

Emilio Sagala won the 2.9-mile race in 17:16, with Mateo Sigala second in 17:38.

Moapa Valley’s Nathaniel Brill (18:17) and Zak Baldwin (19:01) took the next two spots.

Wood, Crusaders rout Mojave

At Faith Lutheran, Chase Wood won the 3.1-mile race by almost a minute, and the Crusaders took the top five spots en route to a 15-46 win over Mojave.

Wood won in 17:16, followed by teammates Austin Hunt (18:15), Brandon McCormick (19:03), Ian Tornello (20:00) and Alex Scott (20:16).

Vikings top Pioneers

At Valley, Ryan Samano of Canyon Springs edged Valley’s Josh Nyberg by four-tenths of a second to win the 3.1-mile race, but the Vikings defeated Pioneers, who had only four runners.

Samano finished in 16:47.8, just ahead of Nyberg (16:48.2). Victor Sutton of Valley was third in 18:40.5, and teammate Niko Christian took fifth in 19:13.6.

Joseph Spendlove (18:58.3) was fourth for Canyon Springs.
