CROSS COUNTRY: Basic boys take cluster meet

Basic's boys cross country team had four of the top five finishers Wednesday to win a cluster meet at Cornerstone Park with 22 points.
Green Valley was second with 42, followed by Silverado (79), Valley (97), Canyon Springs (140) and Coral Academy (170).
Green Valley's Austin Rogers won the 3.1-mile race in 17:14.1.
Basic's Andrew Rangel was second in 17:16.3, and teammate Kendrick Peterson took third in 18:00.2.
GIRLS
Gators take cluster meet
At Cornerstone Park, Green Valley had seven of the top eight finishers and easily won a cluster meet with 20 points.
Basic was second with 65, followed by Valley (74), Silverado (84), Canyon Springs (159) and Coral Academy (165).
Basic's Raquel Chavez won the 3.1-mile race in 22:19.6.
Green Valley's Mia Smith was second in 22:33.7, just ahead of teammate Sara Braverman (22:33.).
