CROSS COUNTRY: Basic boys win cluster meet

Basic’s cross country team had six of the top 14 runners and won a cluster meet at Cornerstone Park on Wednesday.

The Wolves had a team score of 44. Silverado was second with 69, followed by Green Valley with 74, Valley with 80 and Rancho with 92.

Valley’s Josh Nyberg won the 3.1-mile race in 16 minutes, 58.7 seconds, and teammate Kidus Feleke was second in 17:24.

Green Valley’s Ben Stock took third in 17:27.3, just three tenths of a second ahead of Basic’s Kendrick Peterson.

Blaine, Mustangs win meet

At Indian Springs, Johnathon Blaine won a 3.1-mile race in 18:30 to lead Shadow Ridge to victory in a six-team meet.

The Mustangs finished with 28 points. Durango was second with 43, and Desert Oasis third at 80.

Durango’s Felmon Mesgun was second individually, finishing in 18:50. Desert Oasis’ Zach Wood (19:03) was third and Shadow Ridge’s Joshua Ballard (19:04) was fourth.

Wood, Crusaders victorious

At Faith Lutheran, Chase Wood won a 3.1-mile race in 16:37 to help Faith Lutheran capture a cluster meet.

The Crusaders had 34 points, to edge second-place Clark (37). Pahrump Valley was third with 107.

Clark’s Flimon Fre was second in 17:09, and teammate Yoseph Siferaw took third in 17:13.

GIRLS

Gators roll to win in six-team meet

At Cornerstone Park, Green Valley took five of the top six spots to roll to victory with 18 points.

Sara Braverman led the Gators, winning the 3.1-mile race in 21:28.5. Milena Palor was second in 22:18.6 for Green Valley, with Basic’s Payge Farewell (22:21.1) third.

Basic was second with 52.

Pack, Mustangs take cluster meet

At Indian Springs, Julia Pack won a 3.1-mile race in 22:12 to lead Shadow Ridge to victory in a cluster meet.

The Mustangs had six of the top seven finishers and had 19 points. Desert Oasis was second with 79, followed by Durango with 84, Cimarron-Memorial with 89 and Bonanza with 93.

Desert Oasis’ Brooke Locey placed second in 22:43. Shadow Ridge’s Elizabeth Terry took third in 23:06.

Embro, Eagles win meet

At Faith Lutheran, Jessica Embro won a 3.1-mile race in 20:54 to help Boulder City capture an eight-team meet.

The Eagles had a team score of 48. Faith Lutheran was second with 55, followed by Clark with 60.

Faith Lutheran’s Jessica Scamman placed second in 21:07, and teammate Kendall Larson took third in 21:20.
