CROSS COUNTRY: Coronado’s boys, girls both win meets at Sonata Park

Coronado’s boys cross country had the top four finishers Tuesday to win a cluster meet at Sonata Park.

The Cougars, who claimed 11 of the top 16 spots in the race, had a team total of 17 points. Foothill was second with 49, followed by Rancho with 88 and Silverado with 95.

Coronado’s Xavier Cummins won the 2.8-mile race in 16 minutes, 10.6 seconds. Teammate Sterling Saltz was second in 16:14.1, just ahead of the Cougars’ Nathan Cromwell (16:15.9).

GIRLS

At Sonata Park, Coronado had six of the top eight finishers on its way to victory in a cluster meet.

Coronado scored 25 points. Foothill was second with 35, followed by Silverado with 85.

Foothill’s Karina Haymore won the 2.8-mile race in 18:58.1. The Falcons’ Erica Williams was second in 19:07.2.

Coronado took the next six spots with Danielle Greene leading the way in third in 19:10.4.
