Roundup: Coronado girls win six-team meet

Coronado’s girls cross country team had four of the top seven finishers on Tuesday to win a six-team meet at Sonata Park.

The Cougars had 31 points to top Australia Select (61) and Foothill (69).

Desert Pines’ Jazmin Felix won the 2.86-mile race in 17 minutes, 24 seconds. Foothill’s Myna Buckley finished second, also in 17:24, followed by Coronado’s Claire Rawlins (18:25), Desert Pines’ Nayeli Perea-Barco (18:48) and Coronado’s Caitlin Shannon (19:00).

Ellen Hirsberg wins seven-team meet

At Palo Verde, The Meadows’ Ellen Hirsberg finished a 3.1-mile race in 19:23 to place first in a seven-team meet.

Arbor View’s Elaine Bruestle was second in 19:57, leading the Aggies to the team title with 27 points.

Palo Verde was second with 37, followed by Spring Valley (69) and Desert Oasis (106).

Sierra Vista’s Sarriah Brown (20:05) and Baileigh Sundin (20:57) finished third and fourth, respectively.

Shadow Ridges edges Clark in home meet

At Shadow Ridge, the Mustangs had five runners finish in the top 13 to beat Clark in a 3.1-mile race, 43-44.

Legacy finished third with 66 points, and Cheyenne was fourth with 94.

Legacy’s Alanna Gilbert finished first with a time of 20:45.93. Somerset-Losee’s Maranda McGuigan was second with a time of 20:46.37, and Clark’s Kaelyn Monroe was third at 22:07.11.

Amanda Simpson was the top Shadow Ridge runner, and her time of 23:04.87 was good for sixth place.

Alexis Gourrier rolls to win

At Floyd Lamb Park, Centennial’s Alexis Gourrier won a 3.1-mile race in 18:15.23, and the Bulldogs had six of the top seven finishers to roll to victory in a five-team meet.

Bishop Gorman’s Emilia Puskas was second in 18:51.29, followed by Centennial’s McKenzie Morgan (19:53.65), Kiana Littleman (19:53.69) and Delani Dietrich (19:53.71).

The Bulldogs had 19 points. Bishop Gorman was second with 43, Durango had 95 and Pahrump Valley had 99.
