Roundup: Coronado runs to victory at Sonata Park

Coronado placed its five scoring runners in the top eight Tuesday to win an eight-team boys cross country meet at Sonata Park.

The Cougars had a team score of 21. Silverado took second with 63, followed by Durango (97), Sierra Vista (119), Spring Valley (127), American Prep (155), Basic (163) and Sandy Valley (213).

Spring Valley’s Jacob Potere won the 2.86-mile race in 15 minutes, 43 seconds.

Coronado’s Brendan Graves finished second in 16:12.7, just ahead of Laughlin’s Gonzalo Sanchez (16:14.7).

Somerset-Losee wins in Overton

At Overton, Liam Baird won a 3.1-mile race in 17:57.3 and led Somerset-Losee to victory in an eight-team meet.

The Lions had a team score of 39. Moapa Valley was second with 58, followed by Mojave (76), Boulder City (97), Del Sol (147), Chaparral (147), Cheyenne (166) and Sky Pointe (182).

Boulder City’s Ethan Porter was second in 18:17.8.Moapa Valley’s Jerrick Stastny took third in 18:28.7.
