ROUNDUP: Esquivel sets pace as Eldorado boys nip Basic

Eldorado’s Eddie Esquivel won a 3.1-mile race in 17 minutes, 22 seconds, and the Sundevils edged visiting Basic 27-30 in boys cross country on Thursday.

Basic’s Will Gibbs (19:11) and Timothy Fox (19:24) placed second and third, respectively.

Chargers take top four spots, down Western
At Clark, Mucuranyana Amon won a 3.1-mile race in 17:30, and the Chargers took the top four and five of the top six spots en route to a 16-45 win over Western.

Flimon Fre was second in 17:46, and Charles Bennion took third in 18:42.

Bengals grab top three spots, victory
At Bonanza, the Bengals had the top three finishers on the way to a 23-32 victory over Legacy.

Robert Rudd won the 2.5-mile race in 14:03, followed by teammates Logan Epperson (14:37) and Axel Abad (15:29).

Mesgun, Trailblazers roll to win
At Spring Valley, Sami Mesgun won a 3.1-mile race in 16:10 to lead Durango to a 19-44 win over the Grizzlies.

Spring Valley’s Denzel DeCaires was second in 16:52, followed by Durango’s Juwan Williams in 17:12.

Panthers rout Mountain Lions
At Palo Verde, the Panthers took 25 of the top 26 spots on the way to a 15-50 win over Sierra Vista.
Word of Life did not field a complete team.

Palo Verde’s Noah Landers won the 2.7-mile race in 15:18. Pedro Rios and Andrew Goldsmith both finished in 15:23 for the Panthers, followed by Ashton Carr (15:24), Jeremiah Delph (15:25) and Bryan Melendez (15:28).
