ROUNDUP: Esquivel wins big as Eldorado boys down Del Sol

Eddie Esquivel won a 2.5-mile race by more than two minutes, finishing in 14 minutes, 19.6 seconds to lead Eldorado’s boys cross country team to a 20-40 victory Monday at Del Sol.

The Sundevils had three of the top four finishers.

Eldorado’s Chris Rodriguez was second in 16:22.6. Del Sol’s Michael Wells took third in 16:30.9.
 
Mesgun, Trailblazers win three-team meet
At Sierra Vista, Sami Mesgun finished the 2.5-mile race in 14:39 to help the Trailblazers cruise past the Sierra Vista n and Adelson School.

Durango had four runners in the top five, finishing with 16 points. Sierra Vista was second with 50, and Adelson had 75.

Durango’s Juwan Williams (15:20) was second, and teammate Michael Schaffer (15:48) was third.

Depth carries Vikings by Pioneers
At Canyon Springs, Valley had three of the top four finishers on its way to a 24-31 win over the Pioneers.

Canyon Springs’ Ryan Samano won the 2.8-mile race in 17:34.

Valley took the next three spots with Dawson Drake finishing in 17:52, Victor Sutton following in 18:57, and Arturo Aldace finishing in 19:20.

Jones, Aggies top Grizzlies
At Spring Valley, Cole Jones won a 3.1-mile race in 16:42 and helped Arbor View to a 19-44 win over the Grizzlies.

Spring Valley’s Denzel DeCaires was second in 16:46, followed by the Aggies’ Harrison Kelley in 17:00.

Rappleye, Bulldogs top Cowboys
At Chaparral, Ty Rappleye won a 2.85-mile race in 18:26.3 to lead Virgin Valley to a 17-42 victory over the Cowboys.

Virgin Valley had six of the top seven finishers, including Josey Browning in second place (19:30.6) and Drew Durbin in third (19:50.2).

Ekanger, Cougars rout Falcons
At Coronado, Alan Ekanger won a 2.8-mile race in 15:34.8 to help the Cougars to a 19-42 victory over Foothill.

Foothill’s Brian Marshall was second in 16:19.7, and Coronado’s Mark Hickey took third in 16:47.1.

Wood, Crusaders run past Rattlers
At Mojave, Chase Wood won a 3.05-mile race in 18:10 to lead Faith Lutheran to a 24-31 victory over the Rattlers.

Faith Lutheran’s Paul Stephens took second in 19:06, and Mojave’s Jarid Ortiz was third in 19:15.

Pirates beat Jaguars
At Overton, Moapa Valley claimed three of the top four places on its way to victory over Desert Pines, which had only two runners finish the race.

Desert Pines’ Shi-Quan Nettingham won the 3.1-mile race in 19:11, edging Moapa Valley’s Josh Omer by one second.

Moapa Valley’s Garrett Traasdahl took third in 22:30.

Mustangs edge Panthers
At Palo Verde, Shadow Ridge took the top three spots to edge the Panthers in a three-team meet.

David Peters won the 2.7-mile race in 14:43 for Shadow Ridge, which had 28 points. Nicholas Oberdin (15:07) was second and Steven Roundy (15:11) third for the Mustangs.

Palo Verde then took the next six spots. The Panthers finished with 30 points, and Australia Select had 85.
