ROUNDUP: Galan’s course record fuels Patriots’ boys win

Liberty’s Al Galan set a Del Sol course record, winning the 2.4-mile race in 12 minutes, 30 seconds Tuesday to help the Patriots’ boys cross country team to victory.

Liberty scored 38 points, edging Del Sol (39) and Boulder City (43).

Boulder City’s Matt Lundgren was second (12:31) and Del Sol’s Colin Smith third (13:13).

Childress takes first; Valley wins as team
At Chaparral, Las Vegas’ Andrew Childress won the 2.6-mile race in 13 minutes, 49 seconds to help the Wildcats take second.

Valley won the meet with 27 points, followed by Las Vegas (35) and Chaparral (58).

Valley’s Taylor Allgeier was second (14:36) and Terry Thornock third (14:45).

Eldorado tops Canyon Springs, Sunrise Mountain
At Eldorado, the host Sundevils scored 23 points to beat Canyon Springs (44) and Sunrise Mountain (55).

Eldorado’s Fernando Duran-Price won the 2.5-mile race in 14:13, followed by Canyon Springs’ John Sneed (15:34) and Sunrise Mountain’s Sergio Gutierrez (16:19).

Kim, Gators coast to win
At Sonata Park, Green Valley had the top four finishers on the way to 16 points and a dominant win over Coronado (61) and Silverado (61).

Green Valley’s Julius Kim won on the 2.8-mile course in 15:43.6, followed by Matt Campa (15:48.8) and Jason Ferraro (15:55.4).

Hartle, Bulldogs run away from Panthers
At Centennial, the host Bulldogs had three of the top four finishers on their way to 21 points and an easy win over Palo Verde (36).

Centennial’s Nick Hartle won on the 2.48-mile course in 12:52. He was followed by Palo Verde’s Sebastian Karbowniczek (13:26) and Centennial’s Jan Rataj (13:41).

Greene, Falcons win
At Basic, Foothill took four of the top six spots on the way to 26 points and a win over Basic (50) and Tech (55).

Foothill’s Carl Greene won on the 2.5-mile course in 14:21.3, followed by Basic’s Kaleb Stumbaugh (14:32.8) and Kyler Campbell (14:43.3).
