Roundup: Liam Jones wins individually, helps Clark win team meet

Liam Jones finished Wednesday’s 2-mile race in 10 minutes, 45 seconds to earn medalist honors and help Clark win the boys cross country race at Cornerstone Park.

The Chargers finished with 31 team points, beating second-place Moapa Valley (41) and third-place Bishop Gorman (61).

Moapa Valley’s Nathaniel Thompson placed second with a time of 11:23, and teammate Jerrick Stasny was third with a time of 11:31.

Jorge Castro was the second Clark runner to finish, and seventh runner overall with a time of 11:52. The next five finishers after him were all Chargers.

Arbor View dominates

At Floyd Lamb Park, Keith Williams placed first, Ian Jackson placed second and Noah Ayala placed third to help Arbor View run away with a team victory in the 3.1-mile race.

Williams (16:18.92), Jackson (16:22.26) and Ayala (16:34.95) were three of six Aggies in the top nine finishers for the Aggies, who had 19 team points. Shadow Ridge was second with 50 points, and Somerset-Losee was third with 93.

Shadow Ridge’s Dane Cobb placed fourth with a time of 16:49.91.

Seth Blackwell wins at home

At Basic, Seth Blackwell finished the 2.5-mile race in 14:25.5 to lead the Wolves to victory in a five-team meet.

Basic scored 37 points to win the meet, followed by Del Sol (61) and Rancho (64).

Eli Zamora from Las Vegas placed second with a time of 14:48.8, and Rancho’s Jordan Stebbins (14:55.7) was third.
