ROUNDUP: Sunrise Mountain’s Gutierrez gets win, Las Vegas High places two of top three to claim meet

Sunrise Mountain boys cross country runner Sergio Gutierrez won on a 2.5-mile course in 15 minutes, 46 seconds Tuesday at Sunrise Mountain.

Gutierrez was followed by Las Vegas High’s Jacob Tonda (16:03) and Lino Rubio (16:13).

Las Vegas won as a team with 22 points, followed by Sunrise Mountain (46) and Desert Pines (65).

Galan, Liberty win meet
At Liberty, Al Galan won the 3.1-mile race with a time of 16:26 and the Patriots won a four-team boys meet with 47 points.

Silverado was second with 55, followed by Boulder City (58) and Basic (64).

Boulder City’s Matt Lundgren (16:45) came in second, and the Eagles’ Taylor Clifford (17:20) was third.

Durango captures three-team meet
At Sierra Vista, Durango placed three runners in the top four spots to defeat Clark and the host Mountain Lions.

Clark’s Jacob Naylor won the 2.5-mile race in 13:53, but Durango runners Jaime Mitchell (13:59), Matt Shelton (14:23) and Nick Reese (14:42) took the next three spots.

Durango had a team score of 28. Clark was second with 45, followed by Sierra Vista with 52.

Valley wins three-team meet
At Canyon Springs, Valley placed seven runners in the top 10, led by Taylor Allgeier’s third-place time of 18:17, and the Vikings placed first with 25 points.

Rancho (72) was second, and Canyon Springs did not field a complete team.

Rancho’s Jordan Kelly won the 2.7-mile race in 17:42. John Sneed from Canyon Springs was second in 17:56.

Cougars top Foothill, Australia
At Foothill, Coronado had two of the top three finishers on the way to 30 points and a win over Foothill (36) and Australia Select (66).

Coronado’s Gariet Odell was second in the 2.5-mile race in 15:51, and teammate Austin Parker was third in 16:02.

Australia’s Gareth Mumby won in 15:42.

DeLaMare, Bonanza win
At Indian Springs, Bonanza’s Jack DeLaMare won a 3.1-mile race in 19:21 to lead the Bengals to an easy victory.

Bonanza had the top five finishers to score a perfect 15. Western had a score of 77. Desert Oasis and Indian Springs didn’t field full teams.

Bonanza’s Gavin Kakol finished second in 19:29.
