Shadow Ridge boys, girls sweep Grizzly Invitational

Shadow Ridge’s boys and girls cross country teams started off the season on the right foot Saturday, winning the Grizzly Jamboree at Spring Valley.
The Mustang boys scored 20 points, nipping Centennial by two. Shadow Ridge’s girls breezed to their win, scoring 12 points. Centennial was second with 19.
The meet uses a format that pairs two runners from the same school to each run two 1.5-mile legs of a relay. The top three pairings count toward the team score.
Sammy Mahar and Jon Clark led the Mustang boys, combining to finish second.
Centennial’s Nick Hartle and Billy Gravley paired to win the boys race. Moapa Valley’s Josh Thompson and Chase Witter were third.
In the girls race, Shadow Ridge’s Michelle Schenck and Megan Castro paired for the win. Tech’s Claudia Perez and Taylor Coss were second, followed by Centennial’s Ashley Davis and Hayley Davis.
